Elements and Performance Criteria
- Implement and monitor stock production plan
- Convey production plan, policies and procedures to staff for implementation
- Assess feed supplies against production plan and feeding schedule
- Monitor distribution schedules and vary stocking rates, as required
- Monitor stock growth or production using an appropriate performance recording system
- Carry out harvesting according to workplace requirements to meet sales goals
- Monitor stock health and promptly control any pest, parasite or disease outbreaks with samples being sent to relevant authorities
- Monitor effects of feeds and health treatments on stock, and take actions to avoid or minimise stock health problems and negative effects on product quality
- Review progress of production regularly with staff
- Continually review and improve production performance
- Maintain physical and operations records for analysis and evaluation of production performance for senior management
- Evaluate production performance at each stage to determine sustainability and profitability and for use in reviewing and revising production plans
- Obtain and assess information on innovations relating to existing or potential workplace and facility activities to determine their relevance and possible application
- Test relevant innovations to determine their suitability and adaptability, and report outcomes to senior management
- Keep senior management informed of production schedule and performance
